Johnson Creek advertises Solstice as a spring-like combination of watermelon, raspberry, honeydew and ice. Solstice is part of the Red Oak collection and has a base of 100-percent vegetable glycerin.
I tested Solstice e-liquid for several days before beginning this review, because I wasn’t sure about it at first. I’m usually not such a big fan of fruit-flavored e-liquids, and the combination of berries and melons with a menthol tobacco base seemed a bit strange to me.
While the effect of the menthol on the taste of this e-liquid is minimal, the tobacco flavor is somewhat strong. I continually held off on writing my review, though, because I found that I liked Solstice a little more each time I tried it. Now, I have to say that it is one of the better fruit-flavored e-liquids that I have experienced.
Some people prefer stepping down from their usual nicotine level when they vape a fruity e-liquid, and I can understand why; because fruity e-liquids tend to be sweet, some people choose not to use them every day.
Instead, they think of them as after-dinner desserts, perhaps to stave off the temptation to eat something fattening. They savor the sweetness rather than the nicotine. People who choose to buy Solstice at the 18 mg nicotine level, however, are going to be in for a bit of a surprise this e-liquid packs a wallop. The powerful throat hit that I have come to associate with Johnson Creek e-liquids is definitely in full effect.
One of my favorite things about Solstice e-liquid is that the fruit flavors are never overpowering and do not leave too much of a lingering sweetness in the mouth.
